Roadmap columns, items and tags

Structure your board with columns, cards, tags, statuses and priorities.

The roadmap editor has a Board section where you build the content visitors see.

Columns

A column has a name, an optional description, a color and an order. A new roadmap starts with Now (shipping or in progress), Next (committed soon) and Later (exploring or parked). Rename, reorder or replace them, for example with quarters such as Q1, Q2, Q3.

Items

FieldNotes
TitleRequired. Shown on the card.
DescriptionOptional text under the title. Hidden when cards are compact.
ColumnWhich lane the card belongs to.
TagsOne or more tags.
StatusPlanned, In progress, Done or Blocked.
PriorityLow, Medium or High.
OwnerFree text such as a team or person.
Due dateShown as a short date.
LinkAn optional link to a notification, doc or issue.
ColorOptional accent color for the card edge.

Tags

Create tags with a name and a color, then attach them to items. Tags are shown on the cards and as a legend, and you can enable filters on the public board.

Choosing what visitors see

New roadmaps inherit Road Map → Appearance defaults. On each board’s Appearance tab you can keep Use account defaults, or customize: kicker label (default “Product roadmap”), title, description, tags, filters, column descriptions, column counts, card shadow, status, priority, owner and due date. You can also hide Done items and use compact cards. Colors for accent, background, columns, cards, text and borders are configurable.

Size and shape

The embed height (between 320 and 2000 px) and corner radius (0 to 32 px) apply when the roadmap is embedded in an iframe or the Web Component.

Good practice

  • Share intentions, not promises: use statuses and columns instead of hard dates unless you are sure.
  • Keep descriptions short and written for customers, not for engineers.
  • Move finished items to Done rather than deleting, and use “hide done” if the board gets long.
  • Link shipped items to the related notification so customers can read the full story.
