Comments, reactions and social sharing

Let visitors react to and discuss notifications, and read their replies in **Messages**.

Notifications can be interactive. In the Notification options section of the editor you can turn on comments, reactions and social sharing for each notification.

Options

OptionWhat it does
CommentsVisitors can leave a message on the notification page. The conversation arrives in Messages.
ReactionsVisitors can react to the notification so you can see how an announcement landed. Reactions are counted per notification; they do not create conversations in Messages.
Social sharingAdds sharing options so visitors can pass the post along.
PinnedKeeps the notification at the top of lists.
PreserveShows the notification on every visit.

Comments and reactions are available on every plan.

Where you see reactions

Reactions are aggregates, not messages. You see the reaction counts on each notification in the Notifications list, and in Analytics (a Reactions total and a per-notification Reactions column with the breakdown). Chat is separate: a reaction never opens a thread in Messages.

How comments become conversations

  1. A visitor opens the notification page (app.hubbo.io/page/{key}/{id}) and writes a message.
  2. Hubbo creates a conversation attached to that notification.
  3. Your team reads and replies from Messages in the admin app.
  4. The visitor sees the reply in the conversation on the notification page.

No email alerts for messages

New comments are not forwarded to email or push. Check Messages regularly. Hubbo does not currently send an email to visitors or to your team when a message arrives.

Who can reply

By default Administrator, Writer and Support can read and answer conversations, Manager and Designer can read them, and Guest has no Messages access. Permissions are editable per role. See Roles and permissions.

Best practices

  • Reply in the same tone as the announcement, and keep it short.
  • Use reactions as a lightweight signal before you run an NPS or a survey.
  • Turn comments off on notices that do not need discussion, such as maintenance banners.
